ATLAS crappy concept art 1

EDIT: Changed the background a bit and gave Atlas a gun :3

This first of several concept art pieces I am doing for school. This is the first project and I probably did it in about five or six hours (i can't really say as I kept procrastinating)
Basically I was given this crappy canvas size and was told to either two of the following:
-A humanoid character or fantasy creature
-a vehicle from the same universe
-A landscape

So i chose humanoid and landscape. I used my character ATLAS, who I put in a second universe and he is the main protagonist. I had to put 'emotion' into the piece (which i'm SURE i failed miserably in) and show four aspects of it.

When drawing Atlas, one thing i wanted to portray was how he was NOT human, which is hard with how I designed him. -He was given a very dull, artificial skin colour, along with white hair and red eyes.
-The second touch are his exposed joints. He is a machine of war (fml, i forgot his gun, lulz) and the need to easily replace limbs was more of a concern than making him look more human.
- third, a second character with a gas mask was added to show his advantage over man. So many areas of the world are incapable of supporting life that his creation was considered a necessity.
Lastly, the guns that the two carry hint at what their duty there probably is.

Second, the terrain.
-The lack of bright colours is the first feature. I must accentuate why this would be classified as a 'Dead Zone'. Even the grass where the characters are perched is hardly what would be considered 'healthy'
-There is a very big, jagged crater in the distance, a memory of the warfare that occurred centuries ago and created the barren wasteland.
-The strange (poorly drawn) toxic fog that has settled near the ground of the lowlands. This is also accentuated by the man in the gas mask.
- The mountains, which dwarf in comparison to the size of that crater.

Bah, it makes me angry just writing it =_= but my homework is DONE!
