I watched the first two leaked episodes of Legend of Korra, and I must say, I am beyond excited about this series! All of the characters are well developed, the universe has grown into a fantastic 1920's dieselpunk setting, and the characters are all beyond lovable. There has yet to be one I've found annoying. I had to draw things, and this came out of a pile of sketches I did last night.
If anyone does not get the joke here, Tenzin, son of Aang, is voiced by the wonderful J.K. Simmons, most notable for his roles as J. Jonah Jameson in Spiderman and Cave Johnson in Portal 2. When I found out, I shat a brick. He sounds nothing like he usually does.
For those of you who haven't touched Portal 2 yet... The quote is from Portal.
I'm going to finish this shiznit up and make a wallpaper, probably. Needs more polish!
KORRA BANDWAGON AHOY!
Combustible lemons actually sound to me like they would be something that the characters in the Avatar universe would use, as absurd as it sounds.
... give me a bit.
SO MUCH LEMONS!!!!!
That's awesome xD
I often feel like voice actors are, like, a hidden jem to the cast of shows. They don't seem to get the kind of recognition as Red Carpet stars, yet the fan base they have is really strong.
But he's so great, though! I'm glad to know others think so, too
It's a documentary about voice actors. They have everyone from Tara Strong to June Foray. Blew my mind.
I'll definitely keep tabs on that show. Do you know what channel it's on/when it comes out?
Tara's so pretty but she wears so much make-up, though ): But she's still amazing.
I voice actor I've also recently fell in love with is Mako Iwamatsu who did Maku in Samurai Jack and Uncle Iroh in Avatar: The Last Airbender. He's passed away but I love his characters.
And yes, Mako Iwamatsu was a bloody amazing actor in general. I will miss him dearly. (you might find a piece of art in my gallery in honour of his passing XD; )
Remember: Moneyverse. Dark Tenzin. Asparagus. Lots of it. Chariots chariots chariots.
I personally like her, along with all her annoyingly headstrong tendencies, but Tenzin, Bolin and Lin Bei Fong are the ones currently winning my heart over.
I guess I can kind of relate to her because I was in the gifted class. In elementary school, you could get away with doing whatever, even if you failed. It's not what the real world is like, but in most cases, you learn the hard way. So there are times where I'm like 'korra. No. you're being a dumbshit.' and she's clearly at fault, but that's fine. Better than her being a sparklepants mary sue who solves all the problems, right?
It's also nice seeing her get rejected by the dream boy.
(And yes, I laughed at Korra when she got rejected; I thought she deserved to be knocked down a few pegs.)
I'll admit, she does brag, like when she first meets Mako and Bolin and explains she is more than one type of bender, but I'm sure a lot of it comes from the fact that she's never had friends before. All she's known is her family, her trainers, and the White Lotus guards. But you know what? Mako and Bolin have at least made sure to tell her when she's being a shit. Mako was the first to treat her like crap for instance, and threatened to end their friendship when she questioned his girlfriend's father's ties.
She doesn't understand the real world as she had never really left the water tribe before. In a sense, that honestly makes her quite socially awkward. In episode one, she went around looking for food without money, showing she had never dealt with the real world before. She's never had that experience, unlike you or me. She is someone who has been isolated for training. Suddenly, the world is expecting all these things of her and she's doing questionable stuff, such as the strike teams, as she doesn't know better. She's a moron, and assumed things would be just as easy out there as in her home village.
Okay, this became an essay. Sorry about that. I enjoy these kinds of debates XD;
Yeah, I see your point, I just don't like it when people think they are infallible or invincible, because I know for a FACT, that the world hates everyone in it, most especially the one considering it. Someone could live 20 years without any kind of problem, and then, BAM! Your life is ruined, and those 20 years mean nothing anymore. I just thought Korra needed a reality check, and she's getting that quite good.
It's fine if you dislike her, but just give her some time to grow. That's the best part of a character. And I mean, there's a difference between her being an annoying character and a poorly designed character, right?
Thats where I lost it XD
